Born in San Francisco with the markings that resemble a dashing white handlebar mustache, Hamilton lived in a Silicon Valley animal shelter until he was was adopted by Jay Stowe:

“Hamilton is a rescue kitty that was born on the 4th of July (probably). He has a real mustache that is better than any mustache that has ever walked this planet.”

The people I’ve spent my last two weeks with and must spend my next 6.5 weeks with are nice enough. However, not one of them (there are 11) is a fan of Harry Potter, Doctor Who, or Chronicles of Narnia. All of my little references get completely ignored because they don’t understand.

We played a game last night called Fishbowl where everyone writes three random nouns on a paper, the nouns can have as many adjectives on them as you want. Then the first round is played like Taboo, you have one minute to guess. Then putting the papers back in the bowl, the second round you can only say one word and your partner must recall what the nouns were. The third round, again you redraw the slips of paper from the bucket but now it is charades.

Anyways, they threw out ‘Castle Cair Paravel’ because they didn’t know what it was. They threw out ‘Invisible Thestral’ because none of them knew what a thestral was. And they only kept ‘Elder Wand’ because they ‘d seen the movie once and sort of remembered it, plus it was easy for them to break down and just remember later.

I don’t know where I am….

A new vending machine has been released which can print any book within minutes.

The Espresso Book Machine has access to 500,000 different books - the same as 23.6 miles of shelf space - and can even churn out a fresh copy of Crime and Punishment in just nine minutes.

Pages are printed at a rate of over 100 per minute and are then pressed, glued and cut to produce a pristine book.

Users simply pick the book they would like on a screen and wait for it to be printed … it certainly is a novel way of getting a new book.

….You realize, of course, that Hermione Granger lit a teacher on fire when she was eleven, and kept a person alive in a jar for a year when she was fourteen, and studies dark and forbidden magics for kicks, and is one of the brightest and strongest witches of her era. If she came at me, even wandless, I would aparate to Neptune to get away from her.

Hermione Granger also:

punched Draco Malfoy in the nose for being an idiot

purposefully performed a confundus charm on whatshsface WHILE HE WAS FLYING just so Ron would win (omfg that is so fucking dangerous)

literally pulled a fucking Bourne Identity on her parents and managed to set them up in fucking Australia (jesus christ she literally made it so that she NEVER EXISTED wtf that’s so fucking 007)

Convinced the Ministry of Magic to give her an incredibly dangerous and volatile device that allowed her to ALTER TIMELINES COMPLETELY (just because she was so smart, literally, that is the reason, her “potential”)

Has enough basic survival skills and badass magic to literally disappear to the middle of nowhere and flourish AND figure out Voldemort’s plot with Harry

Hermione also figures out not only what Voldemort’s plan is, but generally how to beat it, WAY BEFORE VOLDEMORT EVER DOES. Why? because she is just that much smarter and better at magic than everybody else

in conclusion: Voldemort wishes he could be as awesome as Hermione, that’s why he wants to kill her so bad.

Can we rehave this series with hermione as the protagonist.

I was bored one day reading a pdf file for research and somehow stumbled upon an ‘insert your signature in the document’ section. One way to do this was to use your webcam to take a snapshot of a paper with your signature. I was testing it out but it didn’t seem to work so I gave up (but apparently didn’t close it). When I flipped back to the pdf, it’d take a snapshot of my face and turned it into one of these. After that I spent a while having fun making faces to see what would happen. It feels like art :P

In medieval culture, an event like a royal christening is not a private party; it’s the public social event of the year. To not invite any person of rank to such an event is a deadly insult.

Maleficent is certainly someone you wouldn’t want at a party, but she’s also someone powerful enough that only a fool would ever dare treat her with such blatant disrespect. The only way the King and Queen could possibly have gotten away with not inviting Maleficent was to not invite any of the fairies at all; inviting the other fairies and excluding her is explicitly taking sides in the conflict between the fairy factions.

Which means they made themselves her sworn enemies, and she responded by treating them as such from then on. If you actually get into analyzing the social dynamics of the scene, it’s very clear that Maleficent was willing to show mercy at first by giving the King and Queen a chance to apologize for their disrespect to her. She doesn’t curse Aurora until after she gives them that chance and they throw it back in her face with further disrespect.

And yeah, if the King and Queen had done the properly respectful thing and invited her, Maleficent would have given Aurora a scary awesome present. Moreover so would the other fairies, because at that point both sides would be using it as an opportunity to show off and one-up each other. What they gave her before Maleficent showed up was basically just trivial party favors by fairy standards.
